Dr. Mona Rosenberg, a board certified Veterinary Oncologist, is described by her peers as an innovator and a disrupter with an entrepreneurial spirit. Mona was one of the first 42 veterinarians in the world to attain board certification in cancer medicine for animals. After recognizing the unique needs of the families of pets with cancer, she founded the Veterinary Cancer Group, one of the first of its kind, in 1992. “My Dad was going through chemo and I noticed the oncology center’s entrance, waiting room, staff were all separate from the rest of the hospital and dedicated solely to the cancer patients. I believed our pets with cancer and the families who love them deserved this special treatment as well,” Rosenberg states.

Over the following decades, Mona grew the practice to include 2 comprehensive cancer centers, 2 satellite clinics, 10 oncologists (medical and radiation) and a nationally recognized Residency Training program, the largest of its kind in North America. She personally mentored 8 candidates through their 3 year program to attain Board Certification.

Veterinary Cancer Group was acquired in 2016. Mona stayed on as National Specialty Director of Oncology, overseeing the oncology programs across the country. In 2023, Dr. Rosenberg retired. “I felt it was time to pass the baton to one of the many younger, energetic oncologists with fresh ideas.” Mona continues to be an active board member for Ardent Animal Health. She enjoys adventure travel, wildlife photography, body building for healthspan and living every day to its fullest.
